Audition consists of a basic ballet class (barre and centre) to include steps and combinations typical of the
ballets being considered for the performance. A minimum of one year of ballet training is recommended but
not required. There is no commitment to participate until after the Orientation Meeting.
Appropriate dress for girls is black leotard, pink tights and ballet shoes. If you are on pointe, bring your
pointe shoes into the audition. Guys should wear black tights, fitted white tank or T-shirt, and white or
black ballet shoes; fitted athletic shorts and T-shirt are acceptable.
Arrive about 15 minutes prior to your audition time, as you will need to fill out an audition form. If under
18, a parent or guardian must be present to answer questions on the audition form and sign permission
and release forms prior to entering the audition.
Casting: Auditioners will be notified of their placement (Senior, Junior, Apprentice) within the week
following the audition. Call-backs will be held Saturday, March 13. The Orientation Meeting will be held
Sunday, March 28, at 2pm to discuss details of the rehearsal schedule, casting, responsibilities and to
answer questions prior to making a commitment to participate.
Performance/Rehearsals: The performance will be the weekend of May 22 at the Petal Performing Arts
Center. Most rehearsals will be on Saturday afternoons beginning April 3.
Costumes: All costuming and props are provided by Pine Belt Ballet with the exception of personal items
such as tights, leotards, shoes, etc.
Fees: There is a $20 cash audition fee payable at the time of audition. A non-refundable participation fee
based on the level of the dancer ($75/Apprentice, $100/Junior, $125/Senior) must be submitted with a
Contract of Participation no later than Wednesday, March 31, 7pm.
