Yvonne Bergeron (director) trained in New Orleans under Lelia Haller, the first American to dance
with the Paris Opera Ballet, and Valerie Smith, former soloist with the Ballet
Russe de Monte Carlo. As a soloist with the New Orleans Ballet for seven
years, under the direction of Miss Smith, she performed in such classics as The
Nutcracker, Les Forains, Gaite Parisienne, The Firebird, Graduation Ball,
The Red Shoes, La Bayadere, and spent eight summers in the Dance Teachers
of America teacher training course at Western Kentucky University, graduating
with Honors, under Henry Danton, former soloist with Royal Ballet of London.
Ms. Bergeron has been training dancers and staging classical ballets in the Pine
Belt area since 1973, seeing many of her students go on to professional careers.

a direct pupil of Vaganova. His international performing career included Sadler
Wells of London, Roland Petit's Ballet de Paris, and Australian National Ballet.
During his dancing career he partnered such great ballerinas as Moira Shearer,
Margot Fonteyn and Mia Slavenska. He was the founding director of Venezuela
National Ballet and Ballet National de Colombia and director of Australian
National Ballet and National Ballet de Panama. After ten years as Ballet Master
for Pine Belt Youth Ballet, Mr. Danton was Ballet Master of Ballet Theatre of
Scranton for two years. His return to Pine Belt Ballet in 2008 was welcomed
by all, past and present, who have had the privilege to study under him.
